Q: What are the minimum requirements to apply for the scholarship?

  • Student in good standing on course to graduate from Mendenhall High School, or have already graduated from Mendenhall High School (if applying for other years that incoming freshman).
  • Graduate with at least a 3.2GPA
  • Minimum 21 on ACT
  • Complete the application and essay on this web site and the application through the Financial Aid Department at the University of Mississippi
  • Be accepted at the University of Mississippi as an incoming freshman, sophomore, or junior.

Q: Can I get help with the application to the University of Mississippi and the financial aid office?
A: Yes, the high school counselor or principals office at the high school can help with this. Just request their help.

Q: What if I lose the scholarship due to not maintaining the minimum GPA?
A: If the scholarship award is denied due to not making the minimum GPA, you can still regain the scholarship after bringing your grade point average up to the minimum 2.5 GPA or better.

Q: Is there a minimum number of hours I must take to keep the scholarship award?
A: Yes, you must maintain at least full time student status.

Q: Is the Award available for summer terms?
A: Yes, the Award is available for one summer term in addition to four standard years.

Q: Are there any restrictions on Major subjects?
A: While there are no restrictions on Majors we encourage students to challenge themselves. Education and Criminal Justice majors are not recommended.
